Spellbreak Server Locations
The Spellbreak servers are in the following locations:
NA East - New York City, NY
NA West - Los Angeles, CA
Europe - Amsterdam, NL
South America - Sao Paulo, Brazil
SE Asia - Tokyo, Japan
OCE - Sydney, Australia
When playing Spellbreak, it's best to choose the server that's closest to you for the best ping. Generally, the "Auto" setting will find this for you, but in some cases, the Matchmaking system may opt to place you in a region with slightly worse ping if it can find a better game for you.
Connection Troubleshooting
Resetting Your Router
Sometimes, simply turning it off and turning it back on can help. For almost any router, this involves some simple steps:
- Unplug the power cord from your router
- Wait 30 seconds
- Replug your router's power cord back in
- Attempt to connect!
Restart Your PC/Console
In many cases, there could be an errant process running or cached items that are causing issues with your connection. A full power cycle of your PC or console will often clear these caches, enabling you to try connecting with a fresh slate.
- Turn off your PC / Console completely (no sleep mode!)
- Wait 30 seconds
- Power the PC / Console on
- Attempt to connect!
Connect using a LAN cable
If you play on a wireless connection, sometimes the signal can fade in and out, resulting in a laggy gameplay experience. If you're having issues staying connected or at a stable ping, try connecting directly with a LAN cable, if possible. This will ensure consistent speeds and should provide a more reliable connection and experience.
Check Your Firewalls
It's possible that an overzealous firewall may be blocking you from playing Spellbreak. Ensure that Spellbreak is allowed through the your firewall settings by performing the following steps:
- Hit the Windows key
- Go to the Settings Panel by clicking the gear icon
- Click the Update & Security section
- Click Windows Security on the left-hand side
- Click on Firewalls and Network Protection
- Click Allow an app through firewall
- Make sure all instances of Spellbreak have their boxes ticked. Note that you may see more than one if you've installed on separate clients (Steam + Epic Games, for example)
If that doesn't work and you'd like to further test, you could temporarily disable the Windows Firewall by clicking the private/public network and toggling the Windows Defender Firewall to Off. Test your connection to Spellbreak after this step, and turn the firewall back on directly after if you can confirm whether or not the firewall was the issue.
Change your DNS Settings
Depending on your Internet Service Provider, changing your DNS settings may resolve several connection related issues for consoles. Changing to Google's Public DNS may help your connection. Below are the steps to follow for each console:
Xbox
- Press the Xbox button on your controller.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Network.
- Select Network settings.
- Select Advance Network settings.
- Select DNS settings.
- Select Manual and enter the following:
- Primary 8.8.8.8
- Secondary 8.8.4.4
PlayStation
- Press the PS button on your controller.
- Go to Settings.
- Go to setup internet connection.
- Select WiFi or cable.
- Select Custom.
- Set IP address to Auto.
- Set DHCP to Auto.
- Set DNS to Manual and enter the following:
- Primary 8.8.8.8
- Secondary 8.8.4.4
- Set MTU to Auto.
- Make sure proxy is not being used.
Nintendo Switch
- Go to Home.
- Go to System Settings.
- Go to Internet settings.
- Select the network you are connected or the one you are trying to connect to.
- Go to Change Settings.
- Go to DNS settings.
- Select Manual and enter the following:
- Primary 8.8.8.8
- Secondary 8.8.4.4
Flush your DNS (PC)
- Hit the Windows key
- Type cmd
- Select Run as Administrator for the Command Prompt
- If asked to allow Command Prompt to make changes, say Yes
- Type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter
- Type ipconfig /registerdns and hit Enter
- Type ipconfig /release and hit Enter
- Type ipconfig /renew and hit Enter
- Type netsh winsock reset and hit Enter
- Restart the computer
In a nutshell, this clears the resolver cache, renew the DHCP lease, releases the IP address so it can be renewed, and then winsock reset forces the computer to recall its original internet connectivity settings.
Note: These steps may affect VPN settings, or may result in you needing to manually reconnect to your wireless networks.
