The Leagues system is making it's debut in Dominion with the release of Chapter 2, allowing players to showcase their skill and climb in League ranks throughout the Chapter! Only Dominion will have a ranked queue with the release of Chapter 2, though ranked may expand to other modes in the future.
How the System Works
There are 6 main Leagues that act as larger skill-bands to group players of similar skill together. Within each League are 10 Tiers that players progress through by playing games and earning accolades. The Leagues are as follows, in ascending order:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Legend
Clicking the More Info button on this screen will show you the Crown entry cost to enter higher Leagues, as well as the seasonal rewards for each League.
To progress, you'll need to gain Crowns by earning Accolades in Ranked Dominion matches. These can be earned from various gameplay accomplishments, such as capturing objectives, exiling players, and defeating Vowguards. Note that in some Leagues, certain accolades will not award crowns. For example, in higher Leagues, killing Vowguards stops awarding crowns, as does solo capturing objectives. Winning matches, dealing player damage, and exiling players will always be worth Accolades in any League.
When entering a new League, you'll start off in Tier 10 and progress up to Tier 1. For example, you start in Bronze 10, progress up through Bronze 1, then when you pass the Crowns threshold for that Tier, you'll be placed in Silver 10.
Season 1 is slated to last the entirety of Chapter 2, though this may change for future seasons. Once the season is over, you'll receive rewards based on the League you ended the season in. Your Crowns will be at least partially reset before the next season begins.
Unranked Play
When queuing for Dominion, you'll have a choice of playing either Ranked or Unranked mode. The core Dominion game mode rules and objectives remain the same, however when playing Unranked, there will be no Crowns gained or lost from gameplay.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I demote in League/Tier if I do poorly?
Yes, in some cases. There is a built in "floor" every 5 Tiers that prevents you from falling below that Tier, regardless of performance. For example, if you hit Platinum 5 this season and you go on a losing streak, you'll never demote to Platinum 6!
How many Crowns can I gain per match?
The absolute maximum Crown gain in a match is around 6,000, though it's unlikely to ever achieve this. On average, you can expect to gain between 1500 - 2000 Crowns for a decent performance. A great game may earn you 2500 Crowns, while an awful game should net you around 650 Crowns.
It's all based on accolades earned for in-game actions, so it's very hard to estimate how well you will do each match!
What happens if I disconnect from a match? Will I lose my Crowns?
If you leave or disconnect from a match for any reason, you'll gain no Crowns - regardless of your performance in the game. The only time Crowns are awarded is after the game has completed.
If your match had an entry cost (Gold League and above), a disconnect will not refund your Crown entry cost. The Crown entry fee is consumed as the match begins.
There is currently no way to reconnect to a match in progress.
Will there be Ranked Leaderboards?
As of launch, there will not be Ranked Leaderboards - however, this is one of the improvements we have in mind for down the road!
I have a question about how Matchmaking works!
We've created a whole separate article for this, as it's such a big topic! Check here for more information on how our Matchmaking system is set up!
Someone on my team was griefing/trolling and they cost me Crowns!
Feel free to report griefers, cheaters, and harassment HERE! Please note we require clear video evidence of player misbehavior to be able to take action on accounts.
